The digital PR playbook for regulated industries
AWISEE Team · 22 January 2026
Journalists covering iGaming, fintech or crypto arrive at a pitch with more scepticism than they would for a consumer SaaS product, and reasonably so — these sectors have earned their share of scrutiny. A generic press release does not survive contact with that scepticism.
Lead with data, not announcements
A product launch announcement rarely earns coverage in a regulated sector; a data study usually does. Usage statistics, anonymised customer behaviour trends, or original survey data give a journalist something to write about that isn’t simply repeating your marketing.
Address compliance before they have to ask
Pitches that pre-empt the obvious compliance question — how is this regulated, what licence applies, what happened last time this topic was covered — get further than pitches that hope nobody asks. Journalists in these beats have heard enough vague reassurance to be allergic to it.
Build relationships, not one-off pitches
The outlets that cover iGaming, fintech and crypto seriously are a smaller list than general business press, and reporters on that beat move between publications. A single good pitch treated as transactional wastes a relationship that would have been worth cultivating over several stories.
